WND Rants About ‘Seditious Six’ — But Stays Silent About Terry Lakin

Posted on March 23, 2026

WorldNetDaily continued to complain about members of Congress calling on service members to refuse unlawful orders. Joe Kovacs grumbled in a Nov. 18 article:

A handful of Democrats in Congress who served in the U.S. military and intelligence community are raising eyebrows with a new video encouraging current service members to refuse to follow “illegal orders” issued by the administration of President Donald Trump.

[…]

Democrats featured in the video are Sen. Elissa Slotkin of Michigan, a former CIA officer; Sen. Mark Kelly of Arizona, a former Navy captain and astronaut; Rep. Chris Deluzio of Pennsylvania, a former Navy officer; Rep. Maggie Goodlander of New Hampshire, a former intelligence officer in the Navy Reserve; Rep. Chrissy Houlahan of Pennsylvania, a former Air Force officer; and Rep. Jason Crow of Colorado, a former paratrooper and Army Ranger.

Stephen Miller, Trump’s deputy chief of staff for policy and homeland security, says: “Democrat lawmakers are now openly calling for insurrection.”

LibsofTikTok commented: “Elected Democrats just released a video encouraging members of the military to commit treason and DEFY orders from Trump and Hegseth.”

Kovacs did not explain how, ecactly, it is “treason” and “insurrection” to refuse illegal orders.

Kovacs served up some rage-y stenography in a Nov. 23 article:

President Donald Trump is not letting up in his battle against Democrats urging members of the U.S. military and intelligence community to refuse to obey orders from the commander in chief, launching a fresh barrage of criticism in all capital letters.

“THE TRAITORS THAT TOLD THE MILITARY TO DISOBEY MY ORDERS SHOULD BE IN JAIL RIGHT NOW, NOT ROAMING THE FAKE NEWS NETWORKS TRYING TO EXPLAIN THAT WHAT THEY SAID WAS OK. IT WASN’T, AND NEVER WILL BE!” Trump exclaimed late Saturday night on Truth Social.

“IT WAS SEDITION AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL, AND SEDITION IS A MAJOR CRIME. THERE CAN BE NO OTHER INTERPRETATION OF WHAT THEY SAID!”

In a follow-up message, also in all capital letters, Trump added: “MANY GREAT LEGAL SCHOLARS AGREE THAT THE DEMOCRAT TRAITORS THAT TOLD THE MILITARY TO DISOBEY MY ORDERS, AS PRESIDENT, HAVE COMMITTED A CRIME OF SERIOUS PROPORTION!”

His new comments come on the heels of last week’s comments in which Trump slammed the “SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH!”

Two days later, Bob Unruh grumbled:

A U.S. congressional caucus, being labeled the “Seditious Six,” released a video undermining the command structure of the U.S. military by telling soldiers they don’t have to follow “illegal” orders from President Donald Trump, but refusing to identify any.

Already, the Pentagon is investigating one member, Democrat Sen. Mark Kelly of Arizona, as he potentially could be recalled to active duty.

And now the FBI is working on interviewing the other five.

Unruh groused in a Dec. 10 article:

One member of the congressional caucus that has become known as the “Seditious Six” for their video undermining President Donald Trump, Elissa Slotkin, is now claiming the video was made because members of America’s military were demanding answers about what to do when confronted with “illegal orders.”

Slotkin, on video, asserts there were “so many people coming to use who are on active duty, recent veterans, family members of service members.”

They all wanted to express “concern” about being sent in uniform to an “American city,” like Los Angeles, Chicago or Memphis,” and being “asked to do illegal things.”

The six, Slotkin plus Mark Kelly, as well as Reps. Chrissy Houlahan, Chris Deluzio, Maggie Goodlander, and Jason Crow, claimed in their video that troops have a responsibility not to follow “illegal” orders, although they were unable to cite a single illegal order from Trump.

Unruh did not explain how it was “undermining” Trump to state that illegal orders should not be followed.

Unruh continued whining in a Jan. 5 article:

Only a few weeks ago, Sen. Mark Kelly, a Democrat from Arizona, and several other members of Congress assembled a video stunt that told active members of the U.S. military not to obey “illegal orders.”

Coming at a time when President Donald Trump was active in international issues, addressing illegal immigration, fighting crime and much more, the implication was unmistakable. Yet they were unable to identify any such “illegal” order

Investigations were launched immediately, as the comments were seen by many as undermining America’s military chain of command under Commander-in-Chief Trump.

[…]

The six now have been labeled the “Seditious Six” by the Trump administration for their comments and Trump suggested their comments, obviously intended to influence the ranks and cast doubt on the commander-in-chief, amounted to treason.

But as we’ve documented, WND had no issue with casting doubt on the commander-in-chief when that commander was Barack Obama 00 and it specifically encouraged the sedition of Terry Lakin, a military man who refused a lawful order because he decided that Obama failed to offer proof of citizenship. Neither Unruh nor Kovacs mentioned Lakin in their attacks on Kelly and the other members of Congress.
