New Year, Same Hate: MRC’s Vazquez Keeps Up Partisan War Against Soros

Posted on May 17, 2026

The Media Research Center’s professional George Soros-hater, Joseph Vazquez, continued his methodical and irrational hatred of the philanthropist in a Jan. 9 post, under the blaring headline “NARCO SIMPS”:

Leave it to an insane, radical group funded by leftist billionaire George Soros to make a narco-terrorist dictator out to be the victim and President Donald Trump out to be the arch-villain.

Public Citizen — whose apparatus (including its affiliated foundation) was pumped with at least $6,096,003, from Soros between 2016-2023 — railed against Trump’s capture of Nicolás Maduro and expanding U.S. access to Venezuela’s oil reserves in a January 3 statement: “Trump Embraces Big Oil and Empire After Kidnapping Venezuela’s President.”

Vazquez offered no evidence that Soros played any role whatsoever in Public Citizen’s statement. He returned to whine in a Jan. 15 post:

It seems like the upper echelon of New York Times leadership understands that disclosing the explicit leftist biases of its sources has the potential to undermine the entire credibility of the newspaper’s anti-Trump mudslinging.

Times Opinion’s international editor Daniel Wakin brought “Venezuelan economist” and Center for Economic and Policy Research (CEPR) Senior Fellow Francisco Rodríguez onto his The Opinions podcast to belch about “What Trump Gets Wrong About Venezuela” following dictator Nicolás Maduro’s ouster.

“How do I see this? I see this in two ways,” Rodriguez stated on Trump’s gambit for the U.S. to run one of the most notorious communist countries in Latin America. Rodriguez snorted that this was “the crudest expression of imperial power that the U.S. has attempted to exercise since the early 20th century, when it ran Cuba after the Spanish-American War or when it took control of the customs administration of Haiti and the Dominican Republic after it invaded those countries in the 1910s.”

What Wakin didn’t bother mentioning throughout the entire 22-minute interview was that Rodriguez’s employer is funded by a litany of leftist donors, including none other than the notorious George Soros. Soros poured at least $1,241,518 into CEPR between 2016 and 2024 alone. Other prominent left-wing donors included the hard-left Ford Foundation and eBay co-founder Pierre Omidyar. Not exactly a neutral source, eh Wakin? No wonder he didn’t bother with being transparent about Rodriguez’s implicit political biases.

Vazquez failed to disclose his implicit anti-Soros bias and hate.

Vazquez whined even more in a Feb. 23 post:

We’re not sure what the actual flex is for Courier Newsroom — a literal fake news organization heavily financed by the George Soros empire — to be co-hosting a supposed rebuttal to President Trump’s upcoming State of the Union address aimed at “bring[ing] together elected officials, cultural figures, journalists, veterans, and organizers for a live counter-address focused on defying Donald Trump’s abuses of power[.]”

Last week, the radical leftist anti-Trump group DEFIANCE.ORG put out a press release boasting of its supposedly star-studded speaker lineup for its boycott titled, “STATE OF THE SWAMP: The Rebuttal to the State of the Union.”

In one of the most ironic plot twists, DEFIANCE listed fake news outfit Courier Newsroom as one of the event co-hosts, which became notorious for spreading mass amounts of false information in past elections to manipulate voters.

One of those items Vazquez cited comes from the Washington Free Beacon, which has its own problems with spreading misinformation — something Vazquez failed to tell his readers. Vazquez also failed to disclosed his own track record in citing biased economists — for instance, regularly citing right-wing economist E.J. Antoni despite the fact he’s so radioactive that he had to withdraw his nomination to lead the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
