WND Flip-Flops On Trump Posting Images Likening Him To Jesus

Posted on June 22, 2026

When President Trump posted an AI image of himself as a Jesus-like healer, WorldNetDaily tried to take some outrage over it. Joe Kovacs wrote in an April 13 article:

President Donald Trump is sparking outrage on his own Truth Social page after posting, and later deleting, an image of himself healing a sick patient, with some claiming it’s “blasphemous” and “demonic” for what’s perceived as a comparison to Jesus.

Trump posted the image Sunday night without any personal comment, coming hours after sharply criticizing Pope Leo XIV as “weak.” It was deleted from his page by midday Monday.

The president blasted “fake news” interpretations of the image, telling White House reporters Monday afternoon: “I did post it and I thought it was me as a doctor and had to do with Red Cross as a Red Cross worker there, which we support. And only the fake news could come up with that one.”

“It’s supposed to be me as a doctor making people better, and I do make people better. I make people a lot better!”

After posting some criticism of Trump for posting this image, Kovacs made sure to add approval of it:

Others, though, including Rev. Jordan Wells, founder of Christians Against Antisemitism Institute, was positive about the image, saying it shows Trump “answering God’s call.”

“Trump isn’t calling himself Jesus,” said Wells. “He’s been crystal clear from the beginning: he believes he’s doing the work God has set before him.”

“Jesus’ disciples healed the sick in His name. With Christ in us, we can do His works too. I have no problem with this – I lay hands on sick people and pray for them all the time.

“The people outraged by this are just looking for something to be mad about. Trump is openly praying for the sick – and as Protestants, we still believe in the power of prayer. It’s that simple.

The image used by Trump is similar to one originally posted by author Nick Adams on Feb. 4, who commented: “America has been sick for a long time. President Trump is healing this nation.”

Kovacs then touted how Trump “verbally slammed Pope Leo XIV.”

Kovacs followed a couple days later with an article on a new image Trump re-posted:

Just days after sparking outrage after posting – and later deleting – an image of himself healing a sick patient, with some claiming it’s “blasphemous” and “demonic” for what’s perceived as a comparison to Jesus, President Donald Trump on Wednesday shared an actual image of Jesus embracing the commander in chief.

The image was posted on X by Dan Kelly, a former congressional candidate in Massachusetts, whose comment above the image states: “I was never a religious man … but doesn’t it see, with all these satanic, demonic, child-sacrificing monsters being exposed … the God might be playing his Trump card!”

In resharing the image on Truth Social, Trump noted: “The Radical Left Lunatics might not like this, but I think it is quite nice!!!”

Kovacs omitted criticism of the new image but rehashed criticism of the previous one.

We can’t imagine Kovacs and WND would be anywhere near as nice or accommodating if, say, President Obama had posted a similar image likening him to Jesus.
