Newsmax loves to milk its (softball) interviews with President Trump, and it did so again in an April 30 interview. It kicked off with Trump repeating Newsmax’s view of his war in Iran:
The United States has already delivered a decisive blow to Iran’s military and leadership, but the conflict cannot end until Tehran is permanently blocked from obtaining a nuclear weapon, President Donald Trump said Thursday in an extensive interview with Newsmax’s Greta Van Susteren.
“We’ve already won, but I want to win by a bigger margin,” Trump said. “We have destroyed their navy, destroyed their air force, destroyed all of their — if you look at their anti-aircraft equipment, their radar equipment, their leadership. Their leadership is destroyed. We’ve destroyed everything.”
Trump described Iran as severely weakened both militarily and economically, saying only firm guarantees against nuclear development will secure a lasting outcome.
Newsmax squeezed three additional articles out of this interview:
- Trump to Newsmax: GOP Must Scrap Filibuster
- Trump to Newsmax: AI Will Lead to ‘Tremendous Numbers of Jobs’
- Kimmel’s a ‘Lowlife,’ Trump Tells Newsmax
That last one was centered around Kimmel’s joke that Melania Trump had “a glow like an expectant widow” — unfortunate timing given that the joke was made before the White House Correspondents Dinner, where a man was allegedly planning to assassinate Trump. We suspect that Van Susteren did not mention to Trump that even right-wing comedian Adam Carolla — in a Newsmax interview the day before — pointed out that Kimmel’s joke was taken out of context.
