Steve Malzberg is a right-wing radio host who has also appeared at Newsmax — and he also had a show on Russian government-operated Russia Today. He also moonlights as a contributing writer for the Media Research Center’s NewsBusters — which doesn’t want to talk about his RT gig but curiously references it in his bio — and his job is to peddle the MRC’s preferred right-wing narrative. Malzberg also peddled the MRC’s narrative on language in a Sept. 20 post:
“It’s the left, no it’s the right, no it’s both.”
Ever since the horrific assassination of Charlie Kirk, the media has been embroiled in a constant debate over who has a monopoly on inciteful and downright violent political rhetoric. These “debates” are usually one sided with the overwhelming majority of those involved coming from the hard left.
To me, there is no contest. Not only has most of the violence come from the left, so has the violent talk. The token conservatives who have been allowed to weigh in on this, have done a good job for the most part, in pointing out that Donald Trump was shot, and another assassination attempt on him was stopped. House GOP leader Steve Scalise was also shot. There was an assassination attempt on Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, (more on this later) and the left has burned down cities and has been rioting on and off for years. They point out that the left calls Trump a Nazi, and every other name in the book, claiming he is an existential threat to our country. And of course it is Charlie Kirk who was killed in Utah.
But for some reason, these conservative voices are missing several examples of high-ranking Democrats who have talked about attacking Donald Trump, threatened SCOTUS Justices and urged confrontation with members of Trump’s administration.
[…]Naturally I don’t expect the left to ever bring these examples up. And folks, I’m no genius. But if I know about these outrageous blatant examples of violent rhetoric from high ranking, high profile members the democrat party, why on earth are others on the conservative side not using these to make their points. Charlie Kirk was assassinated, what more needs to be said.
Naturally, Malzberg didn’t mention how right-wingers like WorldNetDaily loved to liken President Obama to Obama and other Nazis — and he failed to disclose how the MRC itself refers to its critics as “digital brownshirts.”
Malzberg also plugged his friends at Fox News as well. For instance, he wrote in a Nov. 13 post:
On Wednesday’s edition of The Five on Fox News, the panel had some harsh words for CNN NewsNight host Abby Phillip for some of the things she said about conservatives during a recent interview with former MSNBC host Joy Reid.
[…]Jesse Watters got it rolling: “And this is why people don’t trust the media. CNN’s prime time host Abby Phillips strutting around like she is some kind of brave truth teller, schooling those conspiracy-believing conservatives. And she actually said it with a straight face to Joy Reid, of all people.” The ex-MSNBC conspiracy theorist.
Greg Gutfeld was first up after the clip, joking: “Abby Phillip talking to Joy Reid about truth is like talking to Brian Stelter about salad. It doesn’t match.”
[…]I have referred to Philllip as “the soft-spoken, smiling, radical leftist.” She has lost much of that smile, and the voice does raise at times, almost exclusively when she goes after her “conspiracy-obsessed” conservative guests, especially CNN contributor Scott Jennings. In fact, it seems like she makes a point of badgering Jennings, talking over him and cutting him off repeatedly. A true “journalist.”
Malzberg didn’t allow Phillip or anyone else to respond to this biased criticism.
