Newsmax Pushes Trump’s Fake Outrage Over Never-Proven Calif. Election Fraud

Posted on September 14, 2026

Newsmax had its preferred right-wing candidate in the primary for California governor, and when the vote count wasn’t moving as fast as demanded, Newsmax was quick to post President Trump’s rantings about it. Sandy Fitzgerald wrote in a June 4 article:

President Donald Trump on Thursday accused Democrats of trying to influence the outcomes of California’s gubernatorial and Los Angeles mayoral primary elections by benefiting from late-arriving mail-in ballots.

“The Dumocrats are at it again! They are trying to STEAL THE GOVERNOR OF CALIFORNIA PRIMARY, AND THE MAYOR OF LOS ANGELES, PRIMARY, AWAY FROM TWO GREAT REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.

Trump also criticized the pace of vote counting.

“Here we go with the very late and massive numbers of MAIL IN BALLOTS,” he wrote.

In a separate post, Trump alleged widespread election misconduct.

Surprisingly, Fitzgerald did note part of the other side of the story:

California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s office pushed back on Trump’s allegations.

“Trump is lying about California again — time to take the phone away from grandpa and put him to sleep,” the Governor Newsom Press Office wrote on X.

Under California law, mail-in ballots are valid if they are postmarked by Election Day and arrive at county election offices by June 9, The Hill reported.

Fitzgerald did not explain why the ballots of all voters should not be counted.

Newsmax followed up with more ranting from Trump in an anonymously written article later that day:

President Donald Trump on Thursday accused California Democrats of trying to manipulate election outcomes through the state’s mail-in voting system, warning that Republicans must act to pass his proposed election-integrity legislation, the SAVE AMERICA Act.

“Look what’s happening in California, the Dumocrats, right before our very eyes, are stealing the Vote,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “I hope the Republicans are watching so that they can finally pass THE SAVE AMERICA ACT!”

Trump’s comments came as vote counting continued in California primary elections, including the races for governor and mayor of Los Angeles. The president alleged Democrats were benefiting from large numbers of mail-in ballots arriving after Election Day.

“The Dumocrats are at it again!” Trump wrote in another Truth Social post. “They are trying to STEAL THE GOVERNOR OF CALIFORNIA PRIMARY, AND THE MAYOR OF LOS ANGELES, PRIMARY, AWAY FROM TWO GREAT REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES.”

Trump also questioned why vote counting remained ongoing days after the election.

Newsmax cited no evidence to back up Trump’s claims about purported election fraud, and it failed to update these articles to point out that no fraud has surfaced — something even Hilton himself has admitted.
