The Media Research Center spent the recent awards season melting down over the Golden Globes, the Emmys and the Oscars — and it still wasn’t done. Elise Ehrhard complained about the Grammy Awards in a Feb. 5 post:
The Israel-Hamas War took center stage at last night’s 66th Annual Grammy Awards on CBS, hosted by Trevor Noah. While Noah himself stayed relatively apolitical as host, conflict about the war interrupted the ceremony even before it began.
Protesters carrying Palestinian flags and Free Palestine signs temporarily blocked drop-off access to the show, according to Deadline Magazine.
During the ceremony itself, singer Annie Lennox cried out “Artists for ceasefire! Peace in the World!” after a performance of “Nothing Compares 2 U” in memory of the late Sinead O’Connor.
Lost on Lennox was the fact that Hamas has rejected Israeli cease-fire proposals, and they are still holding hostages from their October 7 attacks on innocent civilians.
Ehrhard went on to cheer that host Trevor Noah “made only two political jokes the whole night,” adding: “All in all, the Grammy’s were tolerable despite some annoying ‘stars.’ Trevor Noah may have been obnoxious when helming his own late-night show, but he is generally pleasant and inoffensive when hosting the Grammys.”
Stephanie Hamill had her own mini-rant about the Screen Actors Guild Awards in a Feb. 26 post:
Hollywood finally spared us of all the sanctimonious political lectures this year during the 30th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards that aired live on Netflix on Saturday night, which is a stark contrast to previous years.
You have to wonder if they were told to avoid politics from the higher-ups, or if they individually decided to do so on their own, especially considering that it’s an election year, the world possibly being on the brink of World War III and that our nation is facing the worst border crisis in U.S. history under President Joe Biden.
One might think that these mostly liberal celebrities who helped get Biden in the White House would be telling their fans to re-elect him, but no, Biden’s name was not even brought up once.
The lack of politics during the 2-plus hour show, is truly stunning when you take into account how much Hollywood had to say when Donald Trump was president.
As you may remember, when it came Trump’s presidency, clueless celebrities typically had something negative to say whenever they were given a platform to do so.
To be frank, it was a good thing that we didn’t have to listen to celebrities blab on about politics during the awards show. That’s how it should be.
But if that’s “how it should be,” then the MRC won’t have much content to generate. Wouldn’t that affect their jobs? Hamill also repeated these talking points a couple days later on Lara Trump’s podcast.
