The obsession that Media Research Center writer Joseph Vazquez has with all things George Soros kept on going in a May 1 post:
Sorry Rachel Maddow, but radical lefties thumping their chests about protests advocating “workers over billionaires” while getting funding from America’s most notorious billionaire is the most contradictory antithesis of “grassroots.”
As leftist groups across the country (including Hawaii) prepare for a wave of 750+ communist-style protests against President Donald Trump and the bourgeoisies dubbed “May Day Strong,” MRC Business investigated the nearly 500 groups that currently make up the lefty “coalition.” At least 33 of the groups, some of which boast national reach with multiple local chapters hosting events in their jurisdictions, received $115,124,845 from George Soros between 2016 and 2026.
This completely upends the purported mission of the event: “On May 1, 2026, workers, students, and families rally, march, and take action across the country to demand a nation that puts workers over billionaires, with many refusing business as usual through No School. No Work. No Shopping.” The joke writes itself.
As Fox News contextualized, “May Day’s roots trace back to the 19th Century, when Marxists, socialists and labor unions called for a day of strikes in Paris and later became a national holiday in the Soviet Union after the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution.” Go figure.
Vazquez didn’t explain why he trusts the partisan right-wing Fox News to serve up the proper context. He went on to whine:
When MS Now host Rachel Maddow gave the “May Day Strong” event a free infomercial during the April 28 edition of her show, she immediately characterized it as “grassroots,” emphasizing the fact that she didn’t do her due diligence. But celebrating communist-style disruption is par for the course for Maddow, as she was already on record haphazardly celebrating radical anti-ICE protesters harassing Home Depot employees over immigration raids in December 2025, even though the company had nothing to do with them.
“Grassroots?” More like leftist astroturfing personified.
Vazquez didn’t mention any of the astroturfing efforts by his fellow right-wingers, or the infomercials that Fox News and other right-wing channels — and even his own MRC — have provided to them.
Vazquez raged again the next day:
The internet may have just provided a crucial window into understanding why George Soros would pour tens of millions from his ungodly fortune into radical groups that have a penchant for engaging in communist-style protests against — *checks notes* — billionaires.
Leftist outlet The Guardian reported 25 years ago that Soros was already on record expressing sympathies for radical agitators raging against the rich for the “May Day Strong” protests. “’There’s considerable justification for being critical of the present arrangement [in the global economy],” Soros pontificated in regards to violent, communist May Day protests that erupted in London at the time, where participants reportedly went on a “rampage” smashing banks and shops. “It may have a violent fringe, but there’s some very serious forces and movements involved,” Soros said in downplaying the chaotic events that transpired.
Yes, Vazquez hates Soros so irrationally that he’s blaming Soros for something that happened 25 years ago. — the bvery essence of guilt by association. He continued:
For example, the Soros-backed Sunrise Movement had already been named in a groundbreaking Capital Research Center investigation as one of a collective of pro-terrorism groups that received at least $80 million from the Soros empire. CRC noted that Sunrise “endorsed the Antifa-linked Stop Cop City campaign, in which activists currently face over 40 domestic terrorism charges and 60 racketeering indictments.
In fact, we’ve documented how the CRC report is filled with dubious accusations seemingly designed to support a Trump administration investigation into Soros, as Vazquez demands — hardly “groundbreaking.”
Vazquez returned with even more Soros-hate in a May 4 post:
Leave it to the Soros regime to make it seem to the public like an economically-shellacked enemy of the U.S. is somehow winning its war against President Donald Trump.
The liberal Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft — which boasts $2,025,000 in funding from George Soros between 2019-2023 — pushed an asinine claim by non-resident fellow Ian Proud April 28 headlined, “Iran and Russia are gaming the United States, and winning.”
Proud then fear-mongered that Trump was running out of time to end the world before the American economy goes belly up. Proud attempted to prop up Iran’s illusory economic firewall, which new reporting proves is false in retrospect: “Both [Iran and Russia] have as a source of their strength considerable natural resources from which they can generate cash flow to sustain themselves during stand-offs with the West.” But as even pro-terrorist outlet Al Jazeera admitted May 2, “Prices surge, jobs disappear as war strains Iran’s economy.”
[…]Economist Daniel Lacalle skewered this point in a sarcastic May 4 X post. “The Iran oil industry is doing awesomely well because the regime says so.” He continued: “That is why it bans the internet, so you cannot get any independent information. It is amazing that Western media buys and sells the regime’s propaganda.” Apparently the Soros circle is guilty of buying and selling the same anti-American Kool-Aid, too.
Vazquez failed to disclose that Lacalle is a right-leaning economist who aligns with Vazquez’s views.
Vazquez cranked out his fourth anti-Soros post in a week’s time in a May 6 post:
Whenever there’s a threat to George Soros’s regime, you can bet that a number of his grantees will swarm like bees to protect the hive. Enter the disgraced, extremist Southern Poverty Law Center.
A number of lefty organizations and activists penned an open letter to leadership at Fidelity Charitable, Vanguard Charitable and Charles Schwab Affiliate DAFgiving360 lambasting them for halting donations to the SPLC following a massive fraud scandal. The Department of Justice announced April 21 that the SPLC was indicted on multiple fraud charges for financing the very white supremacist and neo-Nazi groups it was claiming for years to be crusading against, to the tune of $3 million.
The letter made SPLC, another Soros cash recipient, out to be some kind of a victim: “By acting without adjudicated facts, institutions risk moving away from their role as responsible stewards of charitable funds and toward a form of preemptive institutional compliance that enables the use of state power to silence dissent by targeting civil society organizations.”
Alexa, define “operational risk.”
MRC Business researched the signatories and found that at least 10 of them received a whopping $204,505,779 from the Soros empire collectively between 2016 and 2024 alone.
Unsurprisingly, none of these posts give Soros or any group that received his money any opportunity to respond.
