The Media Research Center continued its grousing that President Trump’s UFC event at the White House was criticized with a June 12 post by Nicholas Spinnato raging that CNN had on an MMA analyst who wasn’t a fellow right-winger:
Before Sunday’s UFC Freedom 250 Fight at the White House, Friday’s CNN This Morning focused on what the fight and a UFC partnership with the State Department symbolized. MMA Analyst Luke Thomas argued the UFC was intertwined with politics, especially the Trump Administration, as he wondered why the mainstream media never made the UFC “pay” after the “UFC helped launder Donald Trump’s reputation after January 6th.”
The segment led with news of a signed “memorandum of understanding” between the UFC and the State Department, where Marco Rubio called the UFC the “United Nations of fighting.”
Fill-in host Erica Hill asked Thomas what the deal meant, which she described as a showcase of “the soft power tools of the US.” He remained skeptical and wondered about the “return on investment.”
[…]It should be said, Thomas is not simply an MMA analyst. He also hosts a political YouTube page titled “Luke Thomas Gets Political,” where he has posted about the UFC and Trump, among other topics, such as a video titled “Graham Platner’s Support is Frying Brains of the Establishment.”
[…]With callbacks that referred to Trump’s views of soft power with reference to topics like USAID, the MMA YouTuber CNN platformed seemed to be more currently focused on politics than the UFC.

The lying media enters the octagon! This time, on Thursday’s broadcast of MS NOW’s The Last Word, host Lawrence O’Donnell went fully unhinged over innocuous remarks from Secretary of State Marco Rubio at that day’s official memorandum of understanding (MOU) signing ceremony with UFC CEO Dana White.
[…]But O’Donnell, as he always does, turned right back around and made it all about Donald Trump:
That is some deeply perverted stuff. How desperately twisted can your mind be to compare President Kennedy’s announced plan for American astronauts to reach the moon with Donald Trump’s despicable vulgarity in bringing the UFC, the Ultimate Fighting Championship to the White House?
While it’s clear that Trump is a big fan of wrestling, Rubio never once mentioned Trump by name in his speech, because the speech wasn’t about him, but evidently O’Donnell couldn’t resist another chance, no matter how slight, to display his severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome on camera.
Do failed to explain why, exactly, White was at Rubio’s signing in the first place.

PBS News Hour host Geoff Bennett, The Atlantic staff writer David Brooks, and MS NOW host Jonathan Capehart concluded their weekly Friday night news recap by looking ahead to Sunday’s UFC fight at the White House, which, according to them, signifies America’s “cultural decline” and is “unconscionable.”
Brooks was up first and he mourned Donald Trump is no Jack Kennedy, “Well, I first thought of, like, who are the artists John F. Kennedy brought to the White House? It was like W.H. Auden, Robert Frost, Jerome Robbins, Leonard Bernstein. And now we have got cage fighting. Don’t anybody say America’s in cultural decline.”
Of all the presidents to cite when arguing Trump’s White House events are a sign of cultural decline, Kennedy should be at the bottom of the list.
That link went to a number of posts about Mimi Alford, who claims to have had an affair with Kennedy. Christy then went into Trump defense mode:
Whatever one thinks of holding a UFC fight at the White House, it is impossible to argue that combat sports at the White House are unprecedented or to credibly claim it represents a unique degradation of “the people’s house.”
Tim Graham made the argument that anyone who doesn’t agree with trtump’s event is “elitist” on his June 15 podcast:
The effete snobs of the leftist media were on full display as they lamented the “despicable vulgarity” of President Trump hosting a UFC event on the White House lawn.
MS NOW host Lawrence O’Donnell insisted Marco Rubio compared Trump’s “despicable vulgarity” of the UFC event to JFK talking about putting men on the moon. Actually, Rubio was referring to the imagination of UFC head honcho Dana White.
So Graham is somehow not an “effete snob” because he wholeheartedly endorses Trump’s UFC event? Interesting.
