The Media Research Center’s Obama derangement regarding President Obama’s library continued in a June 18 post by Jorge Bonilla:
The impending grand opening of the Obama Presidential Center on the South Side of Chicago has triggered a lot of nostalgia within the Elitist Media. This is particularly true at Democrat propaganda arm MS NOW, where Barack Obama is revered as a god-king.
And with the God-King gone from power for nearly a decade, MS Now viewers may feel some sort of way. They may even feel like America 250 might not be appropriate to celebrate. Don’t fret, though. Luke Russert offers a glimmer of HOPE™:
[…]In order to build the Obama Center up as an alternative celebration, Russert first had to tear down the patriotic celebration that was UFC Freedom 250. Which makes sense because if you’re not into America 250, then you’re really not going to be into the UFC White House event. And of course, there is the rank hypocrisy of criticizing the UFC card as some sort of desecration of The White House, “disgusting” to use Russert’s language, while the previous administration had topless transgenders on that same White House lawn. But we digress.
Yeah, Bonilla would prefer the hateful thugs of the UFC over “topless transgenders” — and he refused to mention the fact that the “topless transgender” to which he was referring (of which there was only one, and she covered her nipples with her hands) was banned from future events after the incident. Trump, meanwhile, specifically invited those UFC dudes. Rather than tell the full truth, Bonilla went on to whine:
Russert offers the Obama Center as a refuge where people can alternatively celebrate- not the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding, but the public opening of the god-king’s very own temple: a place where MS Now’s viewers can feel a pride that they may not feel for their county. Hope and Change as an alternate founding. Obama might be out of office for nearly a decade, but his cultists in the Elitist Media remain as committed as ever.
Bonilla apparently hasn’t considered the fact that he’s the real media elitist here.
Alex Christy was in full comedy-cop mode for a June 19 post disapproving of how late-night TV shows handled the library opening:
ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel and NBC’s host of Late Night, Seth Meyers, both reacted to the Thursday opening of the Obama Presidential Center by hyping the celebrity guest list in an attempt to troll President Trump. Kimmel would take the trolling efforts one step further and hype former First Lady Michelle Obama’s speech that was a “subtle little jab” at Trump by citing her husband’s unearned Nobel Peace Prize.
Before that, Kimmel had to get in the typical accusations of racism. Reacting to New York Knicks owner James Dolan claiming the team has accepted a White House invite, Kimmel retorted, “Is there any chance James Dolan asked the team before he accepted that on their behalf? He might be in for a surprise if he didn’t. What if they don’t want to go? Maybe Dolan figures he can just put some random tall black guys in Knicks jerseys and Trump won’t know the difference.”
Moving on, Kimmel moved on to former President Obama’s biggest celebrity fans, “All the celebrities who weren’t in New York for the parade showed up in Chicago today for the grand opening of the Obama Presidential Center. Look at this lineup of musicians. Bruce Springsteen, Christina Aguilera, Common, Eddie Vedder, Jennifer Hudson, John Legend, Mark Anthony, Marsai Martin, The Roots, Stevie Wonder, Tems, Bono, and the Edge. I guess they couldn’t get Vanilla Ice? What a bunch of losers.”
At least Obama has a Nobel Peace Prize, unlike Christy’s hero Donald Trump. Christy continued to whine:
Later in the night, Meyers echoed Kimmel’s bit about Trump and Obama’s celebrity supporters, “Today was the opening dedication of the Obama Presidential Library, which featured performances—yeah. Which featured performances by Bruce Springsteen, Common, John Legend, Eddie Vedder, Stevie Wonder, and Bono. Oh, my god, and Trump couldn’t even get Milli Vanilli last week. He hasn’t been this mad at a library since he found out they were for books.”
The late night comedy shows aren’t that different from the regular news media. They think Obama is the cool president who pals around with the rich and famous, not seeing how elitist this makes them seem in lieu of Obama’s failed healthcare takeover, failed foreign policy, and attacks on the First Amendment that they now claim to be the guardians of.
Intern Siena Do cranked up the whining:
Instead of covering a bombshell report about Pakistani grooming gangs in the UK or how the foiled UFC terror plot was led by an illegal alien, the liberal media outlets spent Thursday running hours-long coverage of the opening of former President Barack Obama’s Presidential Center in Chicago, the ugliest museum in history. The dedication was livestreamed by ABC News Live, and not ten seconds after Michelle Obama concluded what felt like an interminable speech, anchor Kyra Phillips and Washington Post journalist Mary Jordan wasted no time tripping over themselves to pay homage to the former First Lady.
“Didn’t it sound like a presidential speech?” Phillips gushed. “You know, so many people wanted her to run for president.”
The American body politic has suffered enough without enduring another Obama campaign.
[…]Michelle throws herself in front of every camera she can manage – perhaps more than Barack has over the past few years. She does very little outside the public eye, and she clearly likes it that way. In November of 2025, she published The Look, a book about “how she uses the beauty and intrigue of fashion to draw attention to her message,” according to its Amazon page. As commentator Matt Walsh put it, “she’s published Look At Me: The Book.” But according to ABC, there are “not that many moments that a former First Lady gets an audience like this.”
Do concluded by huffing: “The Obamas left office a decade ago, but ABC is still in as much love with them today as they were back then.” And the MRC clearly hates them as much, if not more, than they did back then.
Christy returned to disapprove of a podcast that failed to hate Obama as he and his employer demand by rehashing old grievances:
Thursday’s opening of the Obama Presidential Center brought back all of the gushing media coverage that defined his presidency and not just from current media personalities. Former CNN anchor Jim Acosta had a busy day with former colleague John Harwood and former NBC and CBS anchor Katie Couric as they seemed to compete with each other over who could be the most effusive in their praise for Barack and Michelle Obama. Acosta would certainly be the winner, as he told Harwood they would have to “pinch” themselves for being able to cover him.
[…]Couric wants to contrast the idea of all former presidents coming together in a respectful way with Trump, but praises Michelle despite her skipping former President Jimmy Carter’s funeral. She also conveniently ignores some of Barack’s more divisive moments, such as Americans bitterly clinging to their guns and religion or his vice president and future President Joe Biden’s remarks that Mitt Romney was going to put black people back in chains.
Christy didn’t explain why Michelle Obama was obligated to attend Carter’s funeral. Then again, the MRC was also mad that she didn’t attend Trump’s inauguration despite Trump refusing to attend Joe Biden’s inauguration.
